Playground Maintenance Course

A one-day, 6.25-hour educational course designed to provide maintenance personnel, recreation professionals, supervisors, and others responsible for playgrounds with practical knowledge they can take back and apply to their facilities. Training the employees who see these facilities every day creates another important layer in an organization's playground safety and maintenance program.

What you'll learn

  • Playground safety standards and guidelines
  • Common playground hazards and recognition
  • Playground equipment and surfacing maintenance
  • Playground owner responsibilities
  • Inspection and maintenance practices
  • Proper documentation and recordkeeping
  • Playground site visit to apply course concepts
  • 0.6 NRPA CEU upon completion (0.2 Group A + 0.4 Group B)

Who should attend

Parks and recreation staff, public works and grounds personnel, school maintenance staff, childcare and daycare facility personnel, church and faith-based facility staff, HOA and property management staff, supervisors, facility managers, and anyone responsible for inspecting or maintaining playground environments.

Important Course Distinction

Completion of this course does not result in Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification. CPSI is a separate NRPA professional certification requiring successful completion of the CPSI examination.
